Oriental Ceramics
The museum has one of the best collections in Japan of Chinese ceramics
that spans from ancient times to the Qing. From Korea,
it has outstanding Goryeo ware and Joseon era blue and white pottery and white porcelain pieces.
Its Japanese ceramic collection is centered
around Hizen ware (Ko-kutani, Sakaida Kakiemon, Nabeshima),
and also includes Kyō ware (Ninsei, Kenzan) as well as earthen and
clay figures called dogū and haniwa, respectively.
