Japanese Painting

The Museum has a wealth of Japanese artworks from the Edo period (1603–1868) onwards.
The Museum's Edo period collection is diverse and includes pieces by Rimpa artists
such as Ogata Kōrin,Sakai Hōitsu, Suzuki Kiitsu;
and Maruyama Ōkyo,Itō Jakuchū,Ike Taiga and other Kyoto painting circle members.
From modern and contemporary times, one finds the art of Hishida Shunsō,
Hayami Gyoshū, Uemura Shōen, and Kobayashi Kokei.
